Lefkada is situated between the islands of Corfu and Kefalonia. It is very close to the shores of the western mainland of Greece.
In the past Lefkada obtained a close relationship with the West due to the Turkish Domination. The center of the island has been built based on the Venetian urban design plan which is unique in Greece and Europe and a fine example of excellent construction that protects from earthquakes. The city is surrounded by a canal and a lagoon while the beaches on the western coast of Lefkada, stand out for their wonderful colours and landscape, particularly Porto Katsiki, Egremni and Kathisma. Furthermore, there are traditional villages and fish taverns everywhere on the island. Some of the most popular villages are Nidri, Vassiliki, Sivota, Meganisi and Agios Nikitas. Lefkada Island appeals to all tastes; it is the perfect place for families, couples and groups of friends.
